A couple of years ago, a woman in Charlotte, NC, decided it was time for her elderly mother to move in with her. Her mother had been living alone since her father had passed away, and it was no longer prudent to have her living all alone due to her age and health.

The Evaluation

The Restoration

A high-speed scrubber was used to remove dirt and traces of scum. Additionally, a vapor steam cleaner was used to get rid of the mildew and mold.

Then, our team removed the old grout and caulk and replace them with epoxy grout. This plastic-based material is more effective at preventing mildew or mold growth compared to more porous latex- and silicone-based grout and caulk, which tend to accumulate moisture. Last but not least, our own ColorSeal was applied. This process not only keeps moisture out and prevents mildew from ever returning, but also it leaves tiles looking brand new.


The Results

After our team was finished, the homeowner was the first to walk into the room. She wanted to check everything out before escorting her mother to her newly renovated bathroom. Try to use soapless cleaners to sanitize your bathroom, as soap-based cleaners not only promote the proliferation of mildew, but also leave a film of scum on the surface.

Tip No 3: Keep the bathroom well ventilated.

Without humidity, there's no mold or mildew. Try to occasionally open a window in order to keep the area ventilated. If there are no windows in your bathroom, you can install an extractor fan.
