Look How Our Tile and Grout Cleaners Revamped This Lady's Bathroom in Charlotte, NC
January 31, 2018
Sometimes, it's the simple and unexpected things that make a difference, and for this woman's mother, it came from our very own tile and grout cleaners in Charlotte
. A couple of years ago, a woman in Charlotte, NC, decided it was time for her elderly mother to move in with her. Her mother had been living alone since her father had passed away, and it was no longer prudent to have her living all alone due to her age and health.
In order to make her mother feel comfortable, she renovated the guest room and bathroom and installed handles in the shower so she could get in and out safely without the risk of a sudden slip. At first, her mother was delighted with the accommodations. She couldn't be more pleased, as everything was custom made for her. Unfortunately, after a while, a problem started to arise in the bathroom.
Mildew and dirt seemed to be accumulating all over the grout and caulk around the bathroom tiles, making every surface look dirty, and the elderly woman just could not tolerate it. She liked having the house squeaky clean all the time. So you can imagine her discomfort at the first sign of mildew. In an effort to please her mother, the homeowner bought all sorts of cleaning products and even tried the DIY methods her mother recommended, but nothing seemed to fix the problems. Even though some products appeared to work at first, they ended up being temporary solutions, as the mildew would always resurface again.
She was ready to give up when a close friend recommended Sir Grout Charlotte's tile and grout cleaners. He had experienced a worse mold problem, and our team not only got rid of the mold, but also left his bathroom in tip-top shape for years. After talking with her friend, she looked us up on the internet and easily found our website. After browsing through our blog and taking a glimpse at our previous work, she was quickly convinced that we could solve her problem and contacted us for a free, in-home evaluation.
We received an email detailing the aforementioned problem, and we reached out to the client to schedule an in-home evaluation. When the day of the assessment arrived, we were greeted by the homeowner and her mother, who showed us the troublesome bathroom.
Our team of experts found mildew in the caulk and grout lines in the shower and on the floor. Plus, the tiles looked a little grimy and discolored. The mildew was most likely caused by water seepage. However, the use of inappropriate cleaning products could have also been a factor.
To revamp this bathroom, our crew recommended a deep cleaning, grout replacement, and our proprietary product, ColorSeal. Our team told them that with this process and a couple of care tips, they wouldn't have to worry about mildew in their bathroom for a long time. Both clients were satisfied with the assessment and scheduled an appointment for the restoration.
When the day of the appointment arrived, the clients were eager to see what would become of their bathroom. So, our crew got to work right away prepping the area to begin the first part of the process. They started by cleaning the bathroom floors and shower using tile and grout cleaning agents. A high-speed scrubber was used to remove dirt and traces of scum. Additionally, a vapor steam cleaner was used to get rid of the mildew and mold.
Then, our team removed the old grout and caulk and replace them with epoxy grout. This plastic-based material is more effective at preventing mildew or mold growth compared to more porous latex- and silicone-based grout and caulk, which tend to accumulate moisture. Last but not least, our own ColorSeal was applied. This process not only keeps moisture out and prevents mildew from ever returning, but also it leaves tiles looking brand new.
After our team was finished, the homeowner was the first to walk into the room. She wanted to check everything out before escorting her mother to her newly renovated bathroom. She expressed how "very, very happy" she was with the results, and quickly brought her mother in to see the results for herself. When her mother walked into her newly renovated bathroom, she was absolutely speechless. After carefully examining every corner of the room, she expressed her gratitude and told the crew that she couldn't have done a better job herself.
Before leaving, our experts shared a few handy tips that could help the ladies prevent a similar situation from occurring in the future:
Tip No 1:
Check for leaks and blockages.
Any standing water in your shower or bathtub can contribute to mold growth. If you happen to see any sign of a leak or blockage, try to fix it as soon as possible.
Tip No 2:
Use proper cleaners to sanitize your bathroom.
Try to use soapless cleaners to sanitize your bathroom, as soap-based cleaners not only promote the proliferation of mildew, but also leave a film of scum on the surface.
Tip No 3:
Keep the bathroom well ventilated.
Without humidity, there's no mold or mildew. Try to occasionally open a window in order to keep the area ventilated. If there are no windows in your bathroom, you can install an extractor fan.
